Impedance measurement or bio-impedance, is the measurement of the organic tissue resistance based on the conduction of low intensity sinusoidal current (µA) at high frecuency (10-100 kHz) through electrodes. While the micro current goes throughout the body, electrodes measure how long it takes for the current to cross the whole body.
Biomega is a high performance portable bioimpedance measuring device that enables to measure bio impedance (ie. the resistance of the body to alternative current).
Fatty tissue is a poor conductor because fat acts as an isolator, and therefore slows down the current while crossing the body: this is the impedance measured by Biomega. Using scientifically validated mathematical equations, a whole combination of valuable body parameters is deducted before setting up a slimming programme:

It is used during the initial diagnostic as well as a follow up tool all along the slimming programme.
Once personal data are stored in the device (age, sexe, height, weight, level of physical activity ...), Biomega provides results compared to usual standard value. The user therefore has a first interpretation of the results.
For instance, for a given person, the fat mass is 14.8Kg and lies between a minimum of 11.20Kg and a maximum of 16Kg.
Regular checks help monitoring fat loss and the results prove to be a highly motivational tool.
The technique :
The measure is always done on the right side of the body, the person must be in a lying position: liquids spread ideally throughout the body and, above all, we are sure the current goes through the whole body (and not only throughout the legs as on measures performed standing up).
Biomega releases a very low intensity alternating current (400µA) at a 50KHz frequency, by applying the four polar method to measure the body resistance. This measurement determines the client's impedance.
The equipment :
Biomega can store 100 customers cards with up to 8 measurements per customer, their records, the interpretations, and the comparison between 2 measurements of the same client.
Its fast measuring function allows calculations to be made in a minimum amount of time and they can be interpreted later.
